IOW, the britts considered ergonomics to be secondary and the Americans made
it primary. This is true, and the germans were ever worse about ergonomics.

The nazi fighters, like the Me-101, were powerful, well armed and effective but
had THE RST ergonomics of anything since the iron maiden. I, a war and war
machine buff, watched a show about WW2 fighters and a nexpert talked about how
the nazi fighters compared to their allied counterparts and he said the same
things you did.

In SF, I guess the klingons don't do ergonomic designs because they'd consider
it weak to want things comfortable, which is why theirships can't win a fair
fight.

LR> Does anyone here have the sf channel? If so does it do
LR> anything but show old shows? Does it have Japanimation?
 LR> Original programming? whatever?

I gave up on my local cable system and got Primestar just to get SciFi. The
picture and sound are both perfect.

SciFi does some new shows and shows some Japanimation. Very little original
programming.

Monday - Thursady schedule features Animation Station (cartoons like Star Wars,
Ewocks, Back to the Future, etc.), Lost in Space, Beauty & the Beast, Dark
Shadows, assorted features from the "SciFi Channel Series Collection", Alfred
Hitchcock, Tales from the Darkside, Night Gallery, Ray Bradbury, Buck Rodgers,
The Incredible Hulk, The Bionic Woman, Six Million Dollar Man, Twilight Zone,
Monsters, Forever Knight, Quantum Leap and a nightly movie based on a weekly
theme (this week (Marvel Heroes Week): The Incredible Hulk Returns, Captain
America 2, Dr Strange, and Amazing Spider Man) or alternating between the Series
Collection and Friday the 13th: The Series. Friday adds The Anti-Gravity Room
(original??), Battlestar Galactica, Masters of Fantasy (original), C-Net Central
(produced with USA Network), Kolchak: The Nightstalker, Sci-Fi Buzz and In Space
(original). Saturday adds more movies (this Saturday: Lensman, Mandroid, The
Fury, Within the Rock), The Odyssey, Dracula, Swamp Thing and Max Headroom.
Sunday adds Mad Scientist, Space:1999, Starman, more movies (this Sunday:
Rosemary's Baby), Amazing Stories, Alien Nation, War of the Worlds and Father
Dowling Mysteries.

I enjoy most of the offering, but some of it is trash. For the movie theme this
week, Stan Lee is hosting the movies and offering commentary. Several weeks ago
was Planet of the Apes week and they had Roddy McDowell host. Other themes have
been insects, inaccurate anatomy, etc.

When I first looked into Primestar, it looked only slightly more than the local
cable service. However, we opted for 2 receivers. With 3 HBO, 2 Cinemax and 2
Disney channels, we are paying about $80 per month. However, we didn't have the
buy the dish which will become obsolete in 2 years.

There are alternatives to your local cable service (Primestar, DSS, and wireless
cable). Why put up with them?

Don

CBIP _Demons Of The Dancing Gods_ 182/257 (far about the fourth time)

About the only ones I couldn't really get into were the "Rings of the Masters",

That was last season here in the US. I guess you don't want to hear about this
season's shocker plot-line cliff-hanger season ending. One thing you have to
remember is that except for the names, the TV show and the comics don't have
anything in common. I gave up on the Superman comics the first time Superman
died.

-> I find most SF shows have little idea of what the passage of time

Of course there's no particular reason to think that the Mimbarii
haven't advanced significantly, although they are obviously a more
conservative species than humanity.

-> I can't imagine the Jedi keeping the peace in any Galatic political
-> system for a thousand generations.

I doubt they did, if you mean preventing all warfare for that time
frame. But the Jedi certainly would have tried to keep peaces and could
reasonably have survived for that long, and maintained the Republic
throughout.

-> I believe a thousand years from now even the human race will have

I often suspect that rather than increasing, it is leveling out. After
all, in the last thirty years, I haven't noticed anything more than
trivial improvements apart from the field of cybernetics...at least in
day-to-day living. As Calvin noted, we're almost in the 21st century.
Where are the jet-packs, et cetera?

Not really. If you've been around long enough to remember the DC Universe
before the `Crisis on Infinite Earths' re-arrainged everything, you'd know Lori
as one of the many women with L.L. initals that Supes gets involved with. Lori
was killed of in that series (as was the Supergirl who was his cousin Kara). but
many of these characters seem to be coming back in rather different forms.

This is the new, improved Lori Lemaris.
