Sorry, lass, but Leman is correct - Defiant was built to be a Borg-
Buster. However, since the Borg were (supposedly) defeated, Sisko
went to Starfleet to request it for DS9 (I'm guessing in the second
sentence, quite certain of the first) to use against the Dominion.

You should know that what you quoted (which I snipped) was part of a
discussion speculating that *Troopers* might be butchered.
However, *no serious work of production has actually taken place*
past scriptwriting under Ginny Heinlein's watchful supervision for a
movie titled *Starship Troopers* and projected for release in 1996 at
the earliest.
Ginny is RAH's widow and custodian of his estate's short stories and
novels. Ginny reportedly had *Red Planet* (an animated three part kidvid
movie) reworked several times and refilmed additionally before allowing
it to air.
In the days after you posted this message I subsequently caught your
"de-futureizing" remark just yesterday. I respectfully point out RAH
wished to be his own "script doctor" and given my reading of RAH's
*Grumbles From The Grave* I feel certain Ginny's creative control and
veto power would regulate the excess fancies of Hollywood.
It is possible special effects can't do justice to a credible
tricar, or even an aircar.
These individuals, children of the producers who worked with RAH may
give respectful treatment to Ginny Heinlein because of RAH's consulting
work on *Destination: Moon* and *Tom Corbett* both filmed in the 1950s.
Ginny gave substantial feedback to RAH and when her initial reaction
was negative it led to rewrites or a total fresh start.
RAH owed much of his return to success in the 1970's and 1980's to Ginny.
RAH ultimately determined that F/x was too primitive then to produce
*his* stories. As the late 1980's approached RAH began to believe his
stories' time was near, thought he knew his passing was nearer.
It seems, IMHO, the producers of *Puppet Masters* showed great
respect to Ginny to offer her the choice in making *Masters* a near
future story.
So don't worry. Ginny's in charge so wait for additional reports. Please.

My guess is that when people go to the movies, they want to be transported to
fantastic worlds suck as those portrayed in "Star Wars" and "Jursassic Park."
However, when sitting in the comfort of their living rooms, they tend to prefer
the familiar worlds of family sitcoms such as "The Cosby Show."
Just my two cents...

Someone here called the last 3 years of Dr. Who the "Years of decline". I
heartily disagree! I thinbk the last three years gave us some of the best eps
ever, including "Re,membrance of the daleks" and the one with the Authurian
characters. Whaddaya think?

B5 echo you could probably ask your op to hook up the B5 fidonet echo. I don';t
think it costs any more to get it if you have a fido access.
