glancing hit from a narn weapon, The hit blew a spine off it and basically left
it helpless. In fact it had to be carried away by a siststership.

Now it has been mentioned that the narns are the lowest tech of the major
races, so one would guess their weapons are the lowest tech too.

In a later ep we see the white star (more about it later) engage a newly
activated shadow ship that was presumably not a full power due to an insane
pilot. The WS is supposed to be the highest tech ship they have, combining
vorlon and mimbarri tech. The WS hit the shadow cruiser with everything it had
and managed to blow a spine off, but this only enraged the shadow ship.

Can someon explain why the lkow tech narn can hit a shadow, blow a spine off
and cripple it while the might WS can blow a spine off a shadow and only annoy
it?

Also, how can a race that can build ships as huge and powerful as the shadow
cruisers be stupid enough to leave them laying around? In one ep we saw that the
shadows had just left a2 dormant ships laying on mars and one of jupiters moons
where anyone could find them? That seems stupid, as anyonewho foundthem could

I thin kthe white star from B5 is a blatant ripoff ofthe Deifant from DS9. Look
at the facts:

Both ships are extremely small compared to normal ships oftheir respective
forces.

Both ships are highly advanced and powerful warships that can defeat much
larger opponents.

Both ships were designed to fight a specific alien aggressor. The defiant was
built to fight the borg and the Ws was to fight the shadows.

Both ships have unusual technology. IThe Ws has a jump drive which is very
unusualk for a ship that small in B5 and the defiant had a cloaking device which
is unique for federation ships in DS9.

Also, the white star looks an awful lot like a Romulan warbird from TNG.

The Fox Television Premiere of Doctor Who

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- !!SPOILER WARNING!! -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

I must say I was very happy Dr. Who was making a return, but I was
rather hesitant to accept the mindset of FOX Television would air it. Being
a "Whovian" almost as long as I've been watching sci-fi it was difficult to
believe it would be as good (and BAD) as the BBC version.
Well, I think I should start with the effects since that seems to be
what everyone remembers of the old show. Effects wise for the US, there was
nothing extraordinary about it, but it wasn't as cheesy as the BBC had done.
The interior of the TARDIS was done up in a Jules Vernesque decor (complete
with the Doctor reading "Time Machine") and brought back several Dr. Who
memoriabilia (for lack of a better word) including the Sonic Screwdriver,
the 900 year diary, and his yo-yo.
To story starts as the Daleks capture the Master and execute him by
disintegration (remembering an old Tom Baker era episode "The Brain of
Morbius") and the Doctor was to bring the remains back to Gallifrey. Sure
enough the Doctor started out at Sylvester McCoy, the 7th Doctor, but gets
shot exiting the TARDIS when the Master's essence escapes and enters the
TARDIS and strands them in San Francisco on New Years Eve, 1999. The Doctor is
sent to the hospital and is almost killed by the puzzled surgeons ("Two
hearts?"). He regenerates into our new hero Paul McGann. He of course goes
through usual post-regneration amnesia and runs across the doctor, Grace
(played by Daphne Ashbrook of "Dave's World") who had operated on him and
believed our Doctor to be dead and his body missing.
The Master takes over the body of the EMT who was taking the injured
Doctor to the hospital. Along with the boy who found the Doctor, they team up
to open the Eye of Harmony and attempt to have the Master take over the body
of the Doctor. The Doctors are attempting to get a piece of the atomic clock
at the science museum to stop the Master and close the Eye.
Overall I found the story to be in the general theme of Who type
stories. McGann had the Doctor's usual lighthearted humor and double-talk and
pulled it off wonderfully. The new TARDIS interior was done up especially
well, better than the anti-septic look of the previous shows. The title song
was a tasteful rehash of the original series and they even kept the
re-materializing SCRATCH-BOOM so typical of the TARDIS. I would love the
show to become a series again on FOX and even maybe see the other surviving
Doctors to do another get-together show.

I agree with your assessment of the Doctor Who movie. However, I don't
think they should do another Doctor Who series. I think what would be better
would be a series of Television Movies, starring the new guy and eventually
moving on to new acters. Each installment could feature yet another of the
Doctor's classic foes such as the Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen, et all.

Imagine this story outline. In the year 2004, a spaceship crashlands in
the Desert outside of Los Vegas. Out of it emerges a contigent of Daleks, done
up in a new high-tech style. These Daleks, using modern special effects, hover
over the desert, their weapons firing much like the Terminator's plasma rifle
and of course the US Army is sent in to quarantine the area.
Soldiers move in and suddenly the Daleks start moving, sweeping rapidly
and with AGILITY over the landscape destroying everything in their path. By the
time the commanders on the scene realize that they're outclassed, it's too late.
After being pasted by the Daleks the US makes an appeal to the United Nations
Intelligence Task Force (UNIT) and they send the retired Brigadier Lethbridge
Stewert out to assess the situation. He briefs the American Army generals and
suggest using the time and dimensional radio the Doctor left with UNIT to
contact the Timelord for help. The American's are skeptical about trusting the
safety of the planet to an alien, but after more defeats to the Daleks are
forced to comply and then....the Doctor arrives to save the day.

Done as a TV movie, this could be a kick-a** flick and would help to
cement the Doctor's position on American TV. Each installment in the movie
series would/could premiere about once every three to four months or every six
months. Thoughts?

'kay, Rave, I'll tell you that Kosh getting whacked was obvious and it was
going to happen.

You see, B5 is just Lord of the Rings in space, and Kosh was

Gandalf. Since Gandalf bought it in LotR it was obvious that Kosh was going to
do likewise in B5.

Sppoiler for Dr. Who 96.

In the very first minute of this one I knew it was going to be a
disappointment. They mentioned that the master had bene tried on Skaro, the
Dalkes homeworld.

Remember "Remremberance ofthe daleks"? Remember Skaro being destroyed by the
Hand of Omega causing its sun to novova? Big inconsistency.

Then of course the master just comes back as a transparent cobra. No
explaination....sigh.

I did like the new doctor, but did have to kiss the woman? Dr.Who went for a
long time without that sort of thing. Kind of tells you something.

The new TARDIS was cool, with lots of retrotech look, but what did the bats in
the cloister room live on?

As tothe Dr. being half human, no. I won't accep this as official. Nope,
never.

The new master stunk on ice, none of Anthony Ainleys cha or energy. I thinkthe
actor was a bad tommy lee jones clone.

Maybew they'll do another movie with the daleks...
