The poles, not the lights. If they are radio or some other form

Depends on how this war is being waged. Considering jumpgate technology

out the Narn colonies in a gradually shrinking more-or-less sphere

There has plenty of messages of people commenting on the
possibility of traveling backward through time and meeting yourself and
the universe
blows up.
Well, the "the same matter cannot occupy the same space at the same
time" theory may not apply to people since we are continuously shedding
our skin and virtually every cell in our body is replaced after about
eight months. Though I can not quote any sources in to back up this
statement (since I do not remember where I read this little tidbit) but
I am fairly sure that I am right.
Then again considering the cyclic nature of the food chain (dust
mites eat the skin and a larger animal eats them and on up through the
chain, or we could just inhale the mites and reuse the atoms that
originally made up our bodies). Whoa, this could make a good thesis for
collage!
And of course, I realise that the Sliders are not traveling though
time but are "sidestepping" through different realities.
Later,
Walter S.

Wrong attitude for him to take, if he honestly is feeling this way. He
ought to be trying to make Warners very happy, within the limits of his own
production principles. Letting Warner's profit margin increase is a sure
way of insuring his series continues.

I got another one for you: one of de Bergerac's stories deals with a
war between the inhabitants of Mars and Venus, fought mostly in the space

ships, but what they hey, he wrote it in the 1500's.

So far, the Defiant has only been outclassed in one battle. The first
one it fought against the Dominion, and in that battle it was outnumbered. Even
the Yamato would have fallen in a battle with a hundred PT boats.
Again when Thomas Riker went up against the Cardasians, the Defiant made
a good showing. It wasn't until it was cornered and surrounded by overwhelming
forces that defeat seemed inevitable. And even then Riker pointed out that the
Cardasians would pay a heavy price.
In the third season finale, the Defiant flew into a Dominion Armada,
blew away eight...possibly nine Dominion ships, rescued Odo and Garak, then flew
out again intact. So I fail to understand why you seem to feel it's outmatched.

I find that hard to believe. In the Dallas/Fort Worth market, Paramount
OWNS the local UPN affiliate channel 21 outright. They show B-5. They've showed
B-5 ever since the 2 hour pilot. If Paramount truly wanted B-5 bumped off of
their stations, they could easily have done it here in one of the largest
television markets in the country. They didn't. In fact, it would actually make
more sense for them to try and keep B-5 on the same stations that Trek is on.
That way the two shows can't directly compete against each other.
In fact the more I think about it, the more impossible to believe it is.
I wouldn't put it past JMS to put that story out, though. Nothing stirs up
ratings better than old fashioned controversy.

OK - what do you want to hear first? I believe we were discussing the myriad
ways time travel can tie you up in knots. Considering that in Nicolai's Other
Suns campaign we've got both single line and Paratemporal time travel to
consider...
Let's see... there was the way T'Isan got shanghaied into the Paratemporal Arm.
She was arrested on a charge of treason, demoted ten or so steps in rank,
shipped off base, briefed, and sent on a mission back in time (I don't even
recall what it was at the moment), after which she returned as a full fledged
Paratemporal Officer at the new rank (which WAS the equivalent - PA ranks are
different from Star Arm ones), and the arrest turned out to have never happened.
Literally - she and those involved in the mission were the only ones to remember
it because a time shift had been done. The Arm likes to shake it's officers up
at the start to see how they react. Sometimes it does it later in their careers
