JH> the season finale. ;) The main reason given for the Dominion not
JH> attacking is because Odo chooses to remain with them ... but that
JH> doesn't stop them from infiltration and trying to get the Alpha
JH> Quadrant races to destroy themselves.

Odo didn't really kill the Changeling, it was a copout making it fall
back against the warp coil. They *SHOULD* have had Odo kill the
Changeling. Instead, as is unfortunately normal, Berman and company
wimped out and made it an accident. What could have been, and should
have been a significant point in Odo's life where he was forced to
choose between his heritage and his duty (not like anyone would wonder
which he would choose), he saved the day in a typical Wesley-esque
maneuver that illustrates clearly all the worst things in the Star Trek
universe.

JH> They have. But they refuse to take him by force, and used trickery
JH> instead; which failed.

That has to be the most ridiculous argument I have ever heard. If so,
then why doesn't the Federation just start sending ships into the
Dominion territory with Odo onboard? They wouldn't *DARE* shoot at
them, would they? Typical two dimensional characterization

JH> Going by Trek history, you would be right. However, they've already
JH> shown a tendency to deviate from history. Odds are on you, but I
JH> wouldn't call it a sure thing.

I *AM* right. You know, I have this on-going bet with my parents about
the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series. I bet it will never happen
and they bet it will. I haven't lost yet and I have a better chance of
losing *THAT* bet than I do of Star Trek writers ever producing a decent
show.

JH> But Paramount can't interfere with Warner's contract with JMS or
JH> with PTEN in any way? (aside from putting pressure on syndicated

Actually, I was wrong. Warner owns the rights to Babylon 5, but JMS
owns the rights to the story that has not yet been filmed. He could
take the story and go elsewhere, he just couldn't call it B5.

And, interestingly enough, Paramount tried to bring pressure to bear
against B5 last season when they started telling TV stations that if
they aired B5, they would not be allowed to show Star Trek. It didn't
work and was a stupid move, both from a legal and a corporate
standpoint.

How many home shopping channels does your cable company carry? Ours in

I'd rather they used those channels for something more entertaining like
the History channel or the Tuner Classic Movies channel. Just about
anything bu infomercials and shopping.

In a message of , Frank Eva scribed:

FE> This note is in response to all here who want to try to paint
FE> a happy face on the postponement of the last 4 episodes of
 FE> season 2...

Well, you are entitled to your opinion on this matter, Frank. :)

FE> I went back and counted the number of new episodes this
FE> season; there were just 17! How is it that ANY show produces
FE> only 17 episodes in an ENTIRE season?

You can't count, Frank. Starting with "Points of Departure" and going up
through "Confessions and Lamentations" there have been eighteen episodes in the
second season of BABYLON 5 to this point.

 FE> B5 had 22 episodes in its 1st season! The X-Files had 26 this
FE> season! Is this what we can expect every year, that in order
FE> to be able to afford B5, the network will only pay for 17
 FE> episodes?

I have no idea what you're talking about here, Frank. :) The final four
episodes of the Season Two material will be airing just before the start of the
third season. There *are* 22 episodes in the second season of B5, but PTEN has
decided to hold them off from the summer slot and put them into the sweeps
period of the fall.

For the record, JMS has said many times that he intends to have 22 episodes
for each of the five seasons of BABYLON 5, with the possible exception of Year
Five (and not even necessarily then).

FE> Juggling their schedule in order to avoid conflicting with
FE> the start of new episodes of competing series is the kind of
FE> rookie mistake we have come to expect out of PTEN, and now
FE> it's pretty much guaranteed another short year for B5 next
FE> season! Now try to put a good "spin" on this bad decision
 FE> PTEN made!

Frankly, you've made two mistakes here. First of all, PTEN is not a
network in the classic sense of the term like NBC or CBS; they are a company
that sells a television show or whatever directly to individual stations and the
like. Thus, they don't directly compete in terms of when to show the new
episodes, since they can only make a suggestion to the stations to which they
sell the shows. If they don't get the complete episodes to the stations before
