E>Those \are\ throwaway episodes, as far as USA and UPN are concerned.

E>Do we really want BABYLON 5 to be treated the way the \cancelled\

FE> I see no REAL evidence that TekWar and Legend have been cancelled.
FE> When I read about it in TV Guide, that's when I'll believe it.

Believe it Frank! USA cancelled TekWar. Shatner is attempting to locate
a studio in Canada that will produce TekWar. This past week Legend
 officially "bit the dust".

FE> In the meantime, I think PTEN should show the last 4 episodes... THIS
FE> SEASON. They aren't treating B5 like a "cancelled" show by doing so.
FE> They're simply finishing the season the way it was scheduled to be
FE> finished. To allow PTEN the EXCUSE you and others have provided is
FE> nothing more than trying to put a good "spin" on the wrong decision!

Who are you to say it is the wrong decision? Their decision makes perfect
sense. Why would you want to show new episodes of B-5 in July during the
 middle of Summer?

Once upon a time someone tried to build the greatist warship in the
world. It was huge and had more guns mounted on than any other ship.
The first time it's guns were fired, it sank. The Defiant is not a
particularly sound design, despite it's firepower, and while it could
defeat any individual Klingon ship, a fleet could pretty quickly destroy
it just by it's own design flaws.

Hmmmm, how about a new opening monologue for DS9. (Or Voyager, for that

EA> FE> another nail in its coffin for me...

EA>Agreed. IF the armed conflict is integral to the storyline that's
EA>another story. But if the excuse for the storyline is the armed
EA>conflict then you have a show that will not last. I'm thinking of
EA>the series Combat! which takes place during WWII. Armed conflict?
EA>You bet. But the stories was about the characters. In DS9 the
EA>characters are there. They have backgrounds. What are needed are
EA>writers that can take advantage of the personalities of these people
EA>that have been revealed.

We certainly are on the same wavelength! :-)

I really do have doubts about the ability of the writers responsible for
DS9. If they think they can hook in new viewers just by making DS9
another "star wars", they've got another think coming. My problem is
that I have never been very impressed with ANY of their writing to date.
Last year they seemed to be promising a new, more action-oriented
direction, but after the first 2 episodes, I knew this new direction was
not going where I could easily follow. I have never felt drawn to any of
the characters, either. So, it would take a minor miracle of another
direction to get me interested again...

Well, Joe has said that he exercises full control over the majority of the
story elements, the continuity with the series and the overall plot, and that
some of the dialogue he'll plot for the comics, but I've got the impression that
he's not all that involved in choice of artist, if at all. This doesn't
surprise me, since Joe isn't a comics expert; he lets them do their job, and
merely involves himself in the project to the point he feels is necessary.
