And so far, they're killer . . . We're also doing some major EFX blow-outs
of a type other than "they go into space and shoot stuff." Very interesting,
  creative, offbeat stuff.
* Never said the shadow war would be over in one year. Only that it wouldn't
  last three.
* What is the origin of the Human/Minbari connection? You'll find out this
very season (year three), in no uncertain or ambiguous terms. You're
assuming that the relationship you saw between Delenn and Sinclair was a
romantic one. It was a close one, on her part in particular, but not based
on romance. We'll explain what that means in year three.
* Yes, the Rangers will play a more important part in year three, and
Sinclair's part in it will be revealed.

Hi Karen!

I liked your response to the quote re: X-Files stories getting boring.

Perhaps the very toughest thing for any top-notcxh series to do is keep
their STORIES at a high level of excellence week after week. I think,
on the whole, though, X-Files has many more "hits" than misses.

By ther way, I've included X-Files "links" on my new Web Page.

Feel free to check it out at:

http://www2.logicnet.com/robert.lidgren

PLEASE bear in mind that I am NEW to HTML and writing Web Pages but I'm
pretty happy with the results. The links I've included seem to be
pretty reliable and allow you to "surf" off to a myriad of other points
too.

From my perch I saw this come out of the gravity well from Jo De Man:

[> Jo De Man [> Met the guy .. waw; If you don't mind my asking, how
[> did that happen? Talk about anything interesting?

He was a guest at LibertyCon this summer, and i listened to him talk about
a lot of different subjects [some of which cannot be retold, because he asked
that they not be]; including his work...

[> Jo De Man [> tell me if I've missed any books (kind of hard to get
[> a hold of them in Belgium)

     OK... [list edited a little...]

  [> -Insurrection
  [> -Crusade

Unsure if there will be any more novels set in the Starfire RPG universe,
but it's always possible.

[> -Oath of Swords (hope he writes a sequel to that one)

You're in luck, he said that there's more of Bahzell's travels coming down
the road [exactly when i don't know]. He also said that the cover artist blew
it with the ears of Bahzell and Brandark; hradani ears are more like those of a
fox, and are closer to the top of the head rather than the sides.

[> -Mutineers' Moon & Armageddon Inheritance (gimme more!)

There may be one more book in this `universe' to be written sometime in the
future.

[> -Path of the Fury (!)

I think this one was a stand-alone, with no follow-up planned [to the best
my knowledge].

  [> -Honor Harrington
  [> On Basilisk Station
  [> Honor of the Queen
  [> Short Victorious War
  [> Field of Dishonor
  [> Flag in Exile

That's the complete Harrington series published to date. FLAG IN EXILE
hadn't been released at the time of the con, and David Weber was telling us
stories about the cover art for that book. Seems that the Graysons based their
knowledge of swords and sword duels from Japanese samurai films, so of course
they didn't get it exactly right... Their swords differ from the standard
Japanese blades in that the top edge is also sharpened about a third of the way
from the point, sort of like a bowie knife.
You list matches mine; if he has published anything else, i don't know of
it.

[> Jo De Man [> Any new ones forthcoming?

Not in the immediate future, to the best of my knowledge; but you might
want to pick up three books written by Steve White [Weber's coauthor on the
Starfire books], THE DISINHERITED, LEGACY, and DEBT OF AGES, from Baen Books.
The first one [DISINHERITED] is the strongest, but the sequels don't drop off
too much [even though White turns the storyline in a weird direction, or two, in
them].

I think a lot of us would like to see it happen, but I don't know if
it's going to be a bigger disappointment if they make the movie or if
they don't. Look at how many Grade A novels get turned into Grade B
(or worse) movies. Dune, Nightfall, and The Puppet Masters come
immediately to mind. On the other hand, maybe that gang of nasty
lawyers could sit on them until they do it right. Of course, in two
of the above-cited examples, the authors were dead and couldn't complain.

On the other hand, while we're engaging in idle speculation on casting,
how about Uma Thurman as Marjorie (Friday) Baldwin? Sean Connery as
Lazarus Long? James Gammon as Mike Callahan?
Other movies I would like to see made:
Oath of Fealty (Niven/Pournelle)
I, Robot (Asimov, and Ellison has already done a pretty fair screenplay)
Stardance (Robison & Robinson)
Lucifer's Hammer (again Niven and Pournelle)
       ***and of course***
Stranger in a Strange Land
I've been hearing rumors for a couple of years that this one is in
production or will soon be in production. Most of these rumors also
say that Tom Hanks will play Mike. I really think that is a little
bit of a stretch at his age, but since I've been praying for this
movie to happen for about 34 years now (since before I would have been
able to get in to see it) I'll take what we can get.

Yes, but he doesn't turn up until the whole series has turned to crap.

I really think you should watch the Yamato/Star Blazers episode in
question. You'll find that Babylon 5 followed the plot line almost scene for
scene. As far as B-5 taking elements from Trek...I'd tend to agree with you. The
two shows are very different. I have noticed a lot of similarities between B-5
and Yamato, even the designs of some of the Earth ships look suspicious. The
Aggamemnon looks like the Alexi Leanov from 2010, but the Earth Cruiser from the
first season episode when that old Minbari went down to the planet and the
hostile aliens came to try and claim it looked like it could have come right out
of Blazers, gun turrets and all.
Not trying to pick a fight, just making a friendly observation. :-)
