Guess you're right.

FG> Their reply may be; "So what?"

Well yes, but in that case, why wait?

Why not? Civilisations could destroy themselves very easily, like if some

FG> We should not develop a paranoia of our own, just be mindful of

I totally agree. But all we can do is to hope there will be a peaceful

Well, haven't you considered the opportunity to cooperate? They get something
from us, and vice versa... They won't kick our asses before they have gotten
everything that they still haven't got, now IF, they are the enemy.

But I think I'm following Frank's footsteps rather than yours(no pun intended).

How do you know if they have a god? Maybe they don't have a religion at all.
But if they do in the way you're saying, I guess we're toast.

If they're smart, they would USE us instead of terminating the entire planet.
Compared to them, we MAY be low-tech, but both sides may still benefit from an
alliance.

One would think that they would guide us "right" instead of killing us until
dead. If they're high-tech, why wouldn't they be "high-cult" and therefore
understandable... ?

Agreed. Like Ebenezer Scrooge's headstone (ATG had a Dickenesian flavor to
it, don't you think?), that upgraded Enterprise-D is a future that might have
been, but now cannot.

Side note: Skimming the opening pages of Shatner's `The Ashes of Eden,' we're
given a scene where Spock stands at the crude gravesite of Kirk (although
knowing that his body had already been removed by Starfleet rescue teams),
contemplating how he'd cheated death still one more time to get that far. And
either his thoughts or the narrative refers to Fleet engineers dismantling the
saucer of the E-D in the distance. Not for salvage or recovery, for Prime
Directive concerns. The inhabited world in that system that Kirk and Picard had
saved, would eventually learn interplanetary travel, come here, and must find no
evidence of other intelligence. At least, presumably, until they got warp
technology.

This isn't canon, of course, but it makes sense. Had she come down in some
remote system with no sentients, I suppose it would be a matter of ripping out
any espically senitive technology, and abandoning the rest.

   Frank

You failed to make your point that women are as you define them to be
and quite completely ignored all that I had said explaining past
accomplishments or lack thereof. It seems you wish to see us as less

additions) However, I find that insulting. I do not think that you are
up for a debate. In other words, I perceive you to be simply opinionated

 KW> Re: B5

KW> Will be watching the new episode on Wednesday and I'll let you know.

 CL> I missed the one Wednesday...did you see it?...Actually, I thought it
CL> was on Sunday....or are you talking about DS9?

Depends on the area, when the shows are shown. Here in ol' Va Beach,
we have X-files (Fri), DS9 (Sat), Highlander (Sun), V'ger (Mon) and
 B5 (Wed).

On the B5 episode....the plot just happened to be a tried and blue
plot-line....the ol' alien symbiote thingie. But I didn't mind that
due to the fact that when I first watched B5 in season one, I was
always impressed with the plot. The beef I had w/ the TV series was
the dismal acting and the characters overall. And that's what I
paid the most attention to on Wednesday.

(Pardon me for not knowing character names here...) but the senior
female bridge officer was VASTLY improved since I've last watched
it. And the guy was had the long black hair and beard....really
really enjoyed him...reminded me of a medieval bard...is he a
regular cast member?? The security chief hasn't changed much, but
then it was the only character I enjoyed in season 1, so that too
 was okay.

Didn't see the alien dude with the fan type hair, in this one. The
guy who reminded me of the typical Russian-Guy. He was the one that
truly irked me....him and that lizard looking guy. Don't know if they
are still in the show or not.

The Captain wasn't seen much in this episode, so didn't have a chance
