other areas there is a delay. Unfortunately, I can not determine whether
this is a repeat of her previous appearance or if this is a new show (my
television listing nor the web page below don't indicate repeats).

The source for the article comes from the January 25, 1996 Las Vegas Review
Journal, Page 1A and 2A. My summary Follows:
Hi there everyone!
Living in Las Vegas we get some nice perks: We can lose all our money at
the tables, good cheap food and soon to come, Star Trek:The Experience!
Recently on January 24th top executives from Hilton Hotels as well as
Paramount Parks held the official groundbreaking ceremony for this fantastic
sounding attraction.
Star Trek:The Experience will be many things. It's 65,000 quare feet will
contain such goodies as a mock up version of the bridge of the starship
Enterprise, a 22 minute long shuttlecraft simulator ride, a dining and
retail area, and a 22,000 square foot casino (this is after all Las Vegas).
The casino area (Spacequest Casino) will feature windows high above the
floor that will simulate the illusion of orbiting the earth on a space station.
The ceremony was itself rather impressive, they had a simulated wormhole
implosion, and a large fireworks display, that showed itself in the form of
the Star Trek logo with the words Star Trek:The Experience under that.
Also attending the ceremony were Trek stars, Jonathan Frakes, Gates
McFadden, and Armin Shimerman. Star Trek:The Experience is slated to open
in the spring of 1997.
If you have any more questions about this project, please feel free to
E-Mail me at:
Snoop@vegas.infi.net and I'll try to answer them for you. For now though it
looks like it's time to get a job application! :)

Thank goodness! It's great that the pipeline has been
unclogged. I got both copies of this on the same day(2/14/96).
Sorry to hear about Black Tower closing down. It seems that
alot of BBSes are closing, I guess due to increasingly available
internet. Locally, there are a good number of BBSes for a city
this size, but it seems alot of them are pay boards. I get alot
of use out of this board, it's a bargain at $35/year.
There's a rumor starting in the Deep Space 9 echo about the show
being switched from syndication to UPN. Have you heard anything
about it? Someone posted that in his market, the show had
switched to the UPN affiliate, during the broadcast the UPN logo
was in the lower right corner of the screen, and they did that
split screen thing UPN does during the Voyager end credits. I
hope the rumor isn't true.
Here in Baton Rouge, DS9 airs on WVLA-33, our NBC affiliate,
Sunday nights at 11. Although that's too late for me to stay up
and watch(I have to be at work at 7:45 on Monday morning), I
tape it and watch it later in the week, along with the new Outer
Limits, which comes on after it. If DS9 switches to UPN, it
will end up on WBTR-19, the UPN affiliate. That station has a
terrible signal, even with my new set of Radio Shack rabbit
ears, I still can't clear it up, and I've decided I'm not going
to spend $26/month on cable(probably even more with that new
telecom bill Clinton just signed). I've been enjoying DS9 this
season, and would hate to see it end up on a station with such
poor signal quality.
I know DS9 switched to the UPN affiliate in New Orleans, but the
official reason given for that was channel 26 wouldn't be able
to accomodate it with the ABC lineup taking up most of the
schedule. Let me know what you've heard, if anything.

I'm not sure if I can make it. March 9 and 10, I have the
Lafayette Hamfest to go to. I may end up spending most of my
money there.
The Cajun Clickers has it's computer expo in November, I'll get
the details to you as I get them.
I visted an interesting bookstore over the weekend,
Books-A-Million over by the mall. They had a huge selection of
books and magazines, a good amount of fantasy/sf too. The place
even has a coffee shop inside it. They also had some comic
books there, but not near the selection of the comic shop in
Chalmette we went to.
This message and the last one are going to be cross posted to
you in EMAIL, in case this mess with the SFFAN backlog starts up
again.

All I've heard about the STTNG movie is that it will bring back
the Borg. I don't know if this is true, just something I've
read someplace.
