If your daughter has been diagnosed as having Attention Deficit
Disorder the _ONLY_ way she is likely to be educated is through
your efforts. The "Professional Educators", I use the term under
advisedment, will place her in a "Special" program where she will
get a "Special Diploma" or a Certificate of Attendance rather
than graduate from high school. She then can attempt to get a
General Equivalency Diploma before applying for a job, or work at
menial labor for the rest of her life. It is possible that she
may qualify to work in a Sheltered Workshop and live in a group
home, sponsored by the Association for Retarded Citizens, if you
are not able to support her as an adult. Private, or Home,
Education can probably save your child's future. Public
Education leaves her no future at all!

I am truly sorry for having to tell you this but I have seen this
happen. I wish you and your children the best.

To remain on topic I suggest that you read 'THE HAPPY DAYS AHEAD'
in 'EXPANDED UNIVERSE' (C)opyright 1980 by Robert A. Heinlein.

Hmmmmmm.....you didn't quote my message but I'll take a guess that you are
the gentleman that was looking for the lyrics to "Banned from Argos".

I'm a local....just not local to you. I'm in Wisconsin.

I'll now begin trying to track down the lyrics for you....I have a friend
who has mounds of Filk songbooks. Surely she *must* have that one in there
somewhere. I'll give her a call this week and then you can either Netmail
me an address to mail it to or I can type it in and NetMail it to you....
whichever seems more equitable.

However, PLEASE, post your request to me again around...say, Friday, 3/1,
and I'll give you an update on whether I found it or not. If you don't
repost to me I'm sure to forget who it was that asked for it....My mind is
not what it once was. I tell people that I gave 1/2 of my brain cells to
my children. Since I had 2 children that means I now have no brain cells
left for myself.

 - No offence meant please... but in such cases I usually ask, how far from the
nearest pub the witnesses were?.. ;)
   Joking aside, such effects can be also produced by:
   - Most probably, a big bolide shedding down pieces of itself;
   - Ball lighting (being actually lower than you presumed);
   - Launch of a rocket (and reflections etc. do weiriest things to them! I
personnally managed to see a quite similar "UFO" about 350 km from Plisetsk, a
Russian space center);
   - An interesting kind of a firework;
   - A UFO camouflaged as any of the above ;))

 FG> (Which makes it all the harder for the one stuck 70.000 ly from home.)

One problem I had with TNG was the families. With all the risks
of deep space travel, bringing families along wasn't a good
idea. Getting sent all the way to "Where No One Has Gone
Before" by the Traveler, transported to another quadrant to meet
the Borg by Q, and even having the children kidnapped in "When
the Bough Breaks" are examples of this. The best example was in
Generations with the crash of the Enterprise after being shot up
by the Duras sisters, too risky for that many civilians I think.

Voyager was designed it seems primarily for short term missions.
It has a smaller crew, only 200, around half of the original
Enterprise. The mission to run down the Maquis ship was only
supposed to be "a couple of weeks" according to one
episode(I don't remember which one, but I do remember a female
ensign telling Janeway at the end that she was pregnant when the
mission began, but thought it wouldn't be a problem since they
were only supposed to be out a couple of weeks).

A good deep space vessel, similar to the original Enterprise,
with all the new Federation technology, would be an amazing
ship. I hope we get to see it.
