CO> EP story? Exactlly what does EP mean, perhaps i could write the
CO> story, if it's something that i am familiar with. Since i am a sci fi
CO> writer.
EP stands for "Electronic Publishing", and is another media for
presenting text. An EP program usually produces an executable file
with a reader all set with your text. Some varieties can support
graphics as well. The simpler ones merely create the executable
file with the reader.
I have a number of EP utilities and electronic books here on
Programmer's Corner, and I will allways welcome contributions in
the way of stories and articles that I can either display on-line
or offer for download as text or complete books.
I also offer a good selection of articles, files, and echos for the
writing people.
(Sorry - I think this is getting off topic here -- netmail me at
1:251/9 if you wish to continue - or we could move it over to the
Writing echo.)

If you had any idea of what Gulliver's Travels was about, you'd have said
nothing.
It is not meant as anything but political and social satire, disguised as an
adventure fantasy.

BPL> My own take on this is that civilizations probably develop in one of two

The Europeans (and eventually the U.S.) were colonizers once they had the
technology to reach other lands. It indeed did bring on unpleasant contacts
with aborigines (American Indians, Africans, Indians, Polynesians, etc.). The
strife between the aboriginal and colonial cultures still continues (racism is
one form).
I believe that once we get the technology to reach other worlds, we will take a
very colonial stance and repeat the same mistakes as the European Colonists.

I've heard several people talk about a story that's probably 10 years old
or more... the basis of this story is that there is someone in the armed
forces (air force, I think) who is hetero, and somehow gets transported
to the future (400 years or so, I think). Everyone (or the majority) in this
future is gay or lesbian (even bi is considered a no-no) and in one part of
this story or book, the main character is making a speech in front of a
training group, and says "Yes, I'm straight, but don't hold it against me"
Can anybody out there tell me where I can find this? Or who it's by, the
title, or any information? I've had almost 20 differant people tell me
that they have read it, highly recommend it, yet they cannot tell me
where I can find it, or any info... Thanks!

Yeah, Conrad's always had a big mouth. Remember, most of these guys
were of the Chuck Yeager school, and no matter what they were doing,
they always sounded laconic and bored. Yeager could've been making love
to half a dozen nymphomaniac coeds at Mach 3, and he'd still have
sounded bored.

I'm not a bit surprised. Trek's always been popular with NASA
