Or found it by chance.
I remember a story where the aliens come to Earth to trade a FTL drive
for own TV transmission tech after we send a probe to their planet.
They couldn't transmit the quality pics that we could with our probes...
Can't remember who wrote it but a little voice in the back of my head
says A C Clarke...

You could try Manhattan Transfer by John E Stith.
It doesn't go into how the terraforming is done.
It's more about how a city of humans stop aliens from
terraforming Earth...
Also the Mars books by Kim Stanley Robinson.
Red Mars, Green Mars and Blue Mars.
Blue Mars isn't out yet but is meamt to be RSN...
You could also try Farmer In The Sky by Robert A Heinlein or
Against Infinity by Gregory Benford. Both are more or less the same
story, but one using machines and the other using genetic engineered
animals... I think the RAH version was the better done of the two.
But than again I was a lot younger when I read RAH's version and only
read GB's version last year...
BFN,
John.

Ok.. I got one.. The crew of the Big E is really dead.
Why?
The nexus would let you go anywhere and do or be anything you desired
right? But you were still in the nexus! The only reason others had
"escaped" was because they were beamed out.
So Picard's second desire was to fix what he messed up. So he fixed
it.. and thus saved that Solar System. But it's just a nexus "dream"
He's still in there.. They never said you could will yourself out.
He's stuck...
So everything we see from now on is a dream Picard's having.. Even DS9
since they have brought in Mr. Dorn.. (cause Worf died with the
others) and ST: Voyager as well.. cause Q brought in Riker..
Or at least my Klingon side likes to believe that..

Sadly, we must announce that, as of March 5, 1996, GARY GRAHAM has had to cancel
as our Special Guest at COASTCON. The shooting schedule for the next ALIEN
NATION movie has been moved up several weeks, resulting in a schedule conflict.
BUT THERE IS PLENTY OF GOOD NEWS, TOO! :) For those of you who just tuned in...
Governor Kirk Fordice has officially proclaimed the month of March 1996 as
COASTCON MONTH in the state of Mississippi!
Biloxi Mayor A. J. Holloway has graciously consented to "officially" open the
festivities at COASTCON on Friday, March 22, 1996.
JOHN DOLLAR replaces Tony DiTerlizzi as Artist Guest of Honor.
AND we are pleased to welcome Astronomer CHRISTIAN READY of the Hubble Space
Telescope Science Institute!
BABYLON 5 fans take note! COASTCON's guest list now includes "MOJO", Supervising
Visual Effects Animator for Foundation Imaging! (And get a sneak-peek at F.I.'s
new ABC series HYPERNAUTS, too!)
Fantasy Author and noted Game Designer AARON ALSTON returns to COASTCON--and
will be reading from his current novel, "Sidhe Devil"!
New Orleans Artist Extraordinaire HUGO MONTERO will demonstrate his unique
technique--you have to see it to believe it! (We needed the Fire Marshal for
this one!)

Multiple line sigs of this sort are more the rule than the exception on the

it is not. On this conference, they are specifically forbidden.

The second one was probably closer to what I tend to think of as a convention -
the Creation things and similar phenomena are more like professional shows for
which you buy tickets to come and be the audience. I much prefer the fan-run
conventions where you pay for memberships to come and be the convention; sorta
like a really big party. Was the Starfleet one a Star Trek convention, or a
general sf convention? I cut my teeth on Equicons (fan-run convention with a
strong ST presense, but by no means limited to Trek), Westercons, LOScons and
whatnot. Haven't been to a Worldcon for years since they got so big they just
weren't as much fun any more. The sort of place where you can sit in the
convention lounge discussing the whichness of the wherefore or how to build a
beer can tower to the Moon (I rather like the bheerstalk myself - you take this
nice looong monofiliment cable and stack bheercans around it and... but I
digress).

By all means let's keep it up in here - and if you want a LOT of B5 discussion,
consider picking up the BABYLON5 echo - it's on the FIDO backbone same as this
thingie.

I think it's mostly a symbol of G'Kar having regained his own feelings of hope,
even if what he hopes for has been changed. He acts like a man who's been
released from heavy stress. I think something good will happen - however I also
think a lot of not-so-good is going to happen first.
